Legacy
How To Leave A Legacy

Introduction
Legacies aren’t automatic; they are carefully built. You have to cherish the right goals and ideals. This eBook tells you how you should go about it.

Summary
Leaving a legacy is something most people don’t consciously think about, and those that do, are thinking of a larger picture, something that’s bigger than life itself. But, how do you leave a legacy for others to follow and peruse?

How to Leave a Legacy
Does the thought of leaving behind a legacy make you feel very small? Oh no, this is not for me, I am not Abraham Lincoln or Albert Einstein or Mother Theresa! Think again. For a change, don’t think of such great internationally acclaimed icons of achievement. Think of someone around you – your friend or relative or colleague at the office or your priest, just anyone who is or was a part of your daily life.

What do you instantly remember about him or her? Did he do something good for you or others? Did she create something special that benefited other people? Did they fight some small injustice in the system and change the rules for better? So you recall that stern old Murphy, your manager at the factory was also a kind and fair boss who was loved and respected by all your co-workers. It strikes you that it was your uncle Jim who led tithe fight to save the old Art Deco cinema house on your street from the wrecking ball and got it registered as a heritage property. And your mother’s incredible apple pies are spoken of by every family for three blocks down the road, all because she generously shared her recipe and egged on the young housewives till they perfected the Art of the Apple Pie!

There you are…that is legacy! When individuals imprint their deeds in the hearts and mind of people around them, they leave behind a legacy. Now think…what do people recall when they think of you right now? Good stuff? Bad stuff? Sad stuff? Oh, you never gave it a thought, did you? Maybe folks around you don’t recall you at all…

Uh oh, that probably makes you feel even smaller than before. But you now know what it means to leave a legacy, and how even the humblest person can leave behind a legacy. So get cracking, bang into the game and start doing YOUR thing – those simple but amazing deeds that will leave behind YOUR legacy.

How To Live An Optimal Life

Summary
What is an optimal life? Is a life where you everything you need and want an optimal life?

How many people do you know who will state that their lives are optimal? If you look around, you might think that happiness has ceased to exist.

But, if you want to make your life optimal, you have to take things in your own hands. You have to shape your own life.

Here is how you can do that, starting today.

Summary
What is an optimal life? Is a life where you everything you need and want an optimal life?

What Is an Optimal Life?
Many people speak about their problems in life. In fact, this is one of the hottest topics of conversations. It doesn’t really matter where you meet someone, all it takes is a friendly smile to start pouring out your life’s woes to them. Everyone does the same. The result is that no one really knows how happy one is. Since everyone is talking about their miseries, it does seem that no one around is leading an optimal life.

This is where the problem lies. We think that the term optimal life should have a definition. We think that we should be able to peg down someone’s life entirely and say, “Ah, now his is an optimal life!” But it doesn’t happen that way, does it? You might think that someone with a lot of money or someone with a beautiful wife must have an optimal life. But when you get to know them, you begin to see the great big problems that lie behind this exterior facade of theirs and you realize that their life is not all that hunky-dory as you thought it to be.

There‟s a great saying I am reminded of here –

If everyone were to throw their problems in a pile, and see everyone else’s, they would grab their own right back.

It‟s true. We think the neighbors are always happier than we are. We think they are leading a more optimal life than we are. But if we were really to sit down and make comparisons, quite likely, we would find our problems to be the least.

So, where are we heading with this? The point I want to make here is that our lives are only as optimal as we want them to be. We have it entirely in our hands how beautiful we want to make our lives. If we want to sit and brood that life is toying with us in every way possible, it is. But if we plan to take things in our hands and not let life jerk us around, it won’t.

We have to plan just how much control we want to give our lives.

An optimal life is a very individualistic thing. For us, an optimal life would be one in which we are completely contented and satisfied with whatever we have. It doesn’t matter whether we are rich or poor – if we are satisfied with what we have, it is an optimal life that we live.

What Do We Need for an Optimal Life?
The general notion all across the planet is that you have an optimal life if you have everything. However, it is not what you have that matters; it is how happy you can be with whatever you have. A person earning just $500 a month has an optimal life if he can survive wonderfully within that and can save too. But even a millionaire is not living optimally if his debts far outstrip his earnings.

So, you see, optimal living is not about money.

What is it about then? Is this about living happily within our family? In a great measure, it is. We are only as happy as our family lives are. Since optimal living is all about contentment, having a pleasant family life becomes one of the essential things for it.

But, again, there are people who have what one might think is the ideal family life – great wife, great kids, etc. – but may still not be happy. Hence, there are a few more things you would need for optimal living. Money and family don’t even begin to scratch the surface actually.

The most important thing you need is actually the way you are. Your perspective, your way of thinking, is much more important in deciding whether you life is optimal. You have to condition yourself into thinking that you are living a great life. When your mental balance is perfectly set, you will find that your life really starts taking a turn for the best.

However, that does not mean you should live in poverty and be happy with it. We need the peripherals – we need the money and the love. These are important ingredients for optimal life, but the realization that these are not the only things should also be had early on. A perfect balance of money, health, family and the right mental spirit will help the most in bringing you toward an optimal life. This is what you need to discover.

Remember
I Don’t Remember

A good memory is truly important for anyone to possess. Your memory of faces, names, facts, information, dates, events, circumstances and other things concerning your everyday life is the measure of your ability to prevail in today’s fast-paced, information dependent society. With a good memory, you don’t have to fear forgetting/misplacing important stuffs and you can overcome mental barriers that hinder you from achieving success in your career, love life, and personal life.

Your memory is composed of complicated neural connections in your brain which are believed to be capable of holding millions of data. The ability of your mind to retain past experiences in a highly organized manner gives you the potential to learn and create different ideas. Your experiences are the stepping stones to greater accomplishments and at the same time your guides and protectors from danger. If your memory serves you well in this respect, you are saved the agony of repeating the mistakes of the past. By remembering crucial lessons and circumstances, you avoid the mistakes and failures made by other people.

Unless you have an illness or handicap, a poor memory is often attributed to lack of attention or concentration, insufficient listening skills, and other inherent bad habits; however, it can be honed and developed using the right methods.

Many people believe that their memory gets worse as they get older. This is true only for those who do not use their memory properly. Memory is like a muscle – the more it is used, the better it gets. The more it is neglected, the worse it gets. This is the reason why older people have more trouble remembering than younger ones. However, people increasing in age can overcome this dilemma and can even further improve their memory by continuing their education, by refining their minds, by keeping themselves open to new experiences, and by keeping their imagination working. An important thing to realize is that different people have various ways of learning. The way in which people learn is often a factor determining the subjects they choose to study, instructors they relate to, and careers they select.

Memorization or retention of data operates by loading images, sounds, taste, smell, and sensation (touch) in a very organized and meaningful combination in our brain. There are three types of memory. Sensory Memory is where temporary information is briefly recorded. Images such as a picture in a magazine and the design on your customer’s clothing are momentarily stored in the sensory memory. It will be quickly replaced by another sensory memory unless you do something to retain it.

Short-term Memory, characterized by 20 to 30 seconds of retention, involves a limited amount of information, and is necessary in traditional processing of experiences and ordinary data gathering (everyday sensation and perception). For example, you were taught by our professor some great techniques on how to easily solve complicated Math problems. The next time you take a Math exam, you may possibly remember some of the formulas, but it’s doubtful you’ll be able to recall and apply all the methods being taught.

Long-term Memory involves consolidation and organization of complex knowledge and information for further reference and other cognitive (mental) processing such as the application of learning or information into meaningful experiences. Examples would include your birthday, your father’s name, and your home’s appearance.

Short-term and long-term memories are concerned with how you continually organize data that are stored in your brain. In short, human memory is like a vast and complicated yet organized library, rather than a trash can or disordered store room.

In order for you to further develop your memory capacity in various tasks, it would be helpful if you consider points and ideas in improving your memory. This would make your retention practices more efficient and sharper.

Bad Habits
Immediate Gratification For Breaking Bad Habits

Foreword
The work demanded in finding and challenging the reasons for our self-defeating behaviors and negative emotions can take time. Occasionally, this is a luxury we don’t have. Still, what can we do when the habit springs up?

This book introduces a small selection of short-term strategies. I have to accentuate that they’re best used together. If used just by themselves, some of these can lead to repression, and force rudimentary causes to express themselves in another way.

You’ll as well find that not all of these are applicable to all behaviors. Dabble with them, and discover which works for you as an individual, and for your certain issue.

Immediate Gratification For Breaking Bad Habits

Banish Bad Behaviors

Synopsis
We will discuss how simply being well aware – mindful – of what is happening inside you is the beginning step to catching your habits as they come up. The more you do this, the earlier you’ll catch yourself in the cycle. And then: Breathe.

Stop, Recognize and Breath
Changing your breathing immediately changes your mental, physical and emotional state!

For instance sitting quietly and letting your breathing become more tranquil, slower and shallower can produce a calmer state within a couple of minutes.

So being able to change your breathing – to temporarily move from ‘automatic’ to ‘manual’ control puts you more in the drivers seat of your own emotions and the general rule is:

Deep breathing leans towards producing more excitement.

Shallow and slow breathing brings forth calmness.

Getting skilled at altering your state through changing your breathing boosts your self-confidence in your state-management power so that unwished moods become just that – unwelcome. Not fearful, or endangering, nor in some way suggestive of personal weakness or inadequacy.

Having the breathing skills to change such unwished-for moods puts you in charge of yourself.

By the way, while you are able to really quickly alter your state using breathing methods you as well need to change your thinking patterns to see to it that the change of state carries on. If you only change your breathing but go forward with the same old thoughts the unwishedfor moods will quickly return.

Watch your breath, a lot of teachers say. And what was so automatic, so unconscious, becomes a means for us to center ourselves and recover control. It doesn’t matter where in the habit cycle you are. Maybe you watched yourself reaching for the bottle of whiskey. Perhaps you’ve already drank your first glass. Perhaps you’re already vomiting. It doesn’t matter. Just take a couple of breaths – and be as aware as you are able to of them.

Experience them. What does the air feel like as it goes into your nostrils, your mouth? What does it feel like moving down your airways into your lungs? Experience it, be mindful of it – and you’ll discover that your breathing gets naturally deeper. Just hesitate, and breathe for as long as you need. In doing so, you break up and weaken the mental-emotional patterns that underlie your behaviors, without the need to examine them.

By itself, this was adequate for me to arrest many unwanted behaviors. If I felt the habit energies come up, I’d simply hesitate, and breathe mindfully till the urge disappeared.

The Sigh Breath is a really easy breathing method for releasing tension in your chest, diaphragm and neck areas. It can be an excellent way of managing the symptoms of anxiousness or panic.

It’s a moderate (instead of very deep) inhale through the nose accompanied by a fairly prolonged and slow exhale through the nose or mouth – as a prelude to letting your breathing become slower and shallower.

Memory
Improve Your Memory

Your brain works as a storage area that stores memory.  There are actually two types of memory, short-term and long-term.  In your brain, there are various kinds of memory that are stored.  Since the brain is so enormous, it requires a system where the memory can be encoded and retrieved.

Your brain is required to get information very quickly, regardless of what it is.  It doesn’t matter whether the information is old or new.  There are some times where the brain cannot retrieve the memory that is needed.  Depending on the situation, it could be something that is not a big deal.  On the other hand, it could be something that is massive.

There may have been times where you have gone to a strip mall and you don’t remember where you parked your vehicle.  Or you may have gone to the office products store and didn’t remember what you were supposed to purchase.  Maybe you encountered someone that you knew and forgot their name.  That can be embarrassing.

If you were young when these memory lapses happened, then when you get in your 30s and 40s you may be approaching some senior moments or you may start to forget more.  Within 20 years after that, you may be concerned about Alzheimer’s disease.

However, this condition has started to creep up in people in their 30s.  So it’s not just limited to the senior citizen age group anymore.

It’s a good idea to know how your brain operates in regard to your memory.  Things such as the birth of your first child, your child’s high school graduation—those are things that you will cherish forever.

Those are special moments and it’s difficult to erase the memory.  Even if they did not turn out the way you wanted it to, they were still moments that you will never have again with that child.

Memory is supposed to be about remembering things that have happened, remembering people, places and things.  Memory is not something that you can see.  You just know it’s there inside of your brain.  The important thing is that there is a place where you can store and retrieve information whenever you need to.
If you are looking to improve your memory, this guide provides some tips and tricks that you can use to start the process.  As you utilize them, you can keep information in your memory bank without the embarrassment of forgetfulness.
